MEET THE DOUGH MAMA

I’ve been interested in baking since my daddy taught me some of his mother’s recipes as a young girl. Over the years, I explored with quick breads, yeast breads, making cakes for my sons, and then finally sourdough.

Another homeschooling mama gifted me some starter and I let it sit in my fridge for about a month before I tried to bake some sourdough. I had all the wrong flour on hand, but I mixed up what I had and made my first loaf. It. Was. Delicious.

I began posting pictures of the breads I was making for my family and quickly had others asking for it too. After a few close family and friends beta tested a plethora of loaves, I soon was able to offer bread for sale!

I started with taking orders then added in vendor events and Farmer’s Markets and now make 80-110 loaves every week, among other sourdough goodies.

As my business has grown, I have been able to teach my husband and three sons a bit about bread making and business owning. We often are mixing or shaping dough together as a family and have spent countless hours together packaging, prepping, and selling together. This truly is a family business that we are building from the ground up! Make sure to swing by the SFC Farmer’s Market in Sunset Valley to meet the crew!

I named my business Dough Mama Homestead for several reasons. Firstly, I launched my business with homemade, quality ingredient baked goods. Consequently, I handle LOTS of dough. Also, I’m a mama of three, very sweet, helpful young men who have approved of my sourdough goodies. Lastly, I also desire to be more self-sufficient and use wholesome products from our land including eggs, veggies, and herbs. Someday soon, I hope to offer more than just baked goods from our beginner homestead.
